Shadow Boxes

What Is A Shadow Box?

A shadow box picture frame is used when we want to create a three dimensional look and are displaying something with depth, like a football jersey or your baby’s first pair of shoes. Also, when a collection of memorabilia like ribbons, awards or medals are added to a photo or certificate then a spacer is used to create the necessary depth.

Shadow boxes can be as deep as 3″ or 4″ or as little as 1″ to 1 1/2″ depending on the amount of space needed to keep the glass or acrylic from touching the items being framed, which have been attached to a fabric or matting background.

The choice of framing materials available to create a shadow box range from a simple contemporary look in black, walnut, gold, silver or white to a more ornate traditional look with wood tones, gold or silver. The face of a shadow box frame is usually no wider than 1″ to 2″ either flat or with traditional curves and detailing.

A custom shadow box picture frame is a nice way to preserve and display your special collections, wedding, sports or military memorabilia, awards, family photos, music records, etc. for you, your family and your friends to enjoy for years to come.
